For those that revel in finding the paths less travelled, and who have been to Padstow in the hazy mellow glory that is the county of Cornwall in South West England, this will be a familiar view. Padstow for the uninitiated is a glutton’s paradise, with superb eateries, proper Cornish pasty shops and wall to wall celebrity chef’s restaurants. Reaching this view is a sumptuous way to walk away your excesses with the richest of visual treats along the way!  Starting at the top corner of Padstow by walking up hill to Tregirls Lane, past Prideaux Place and once up and over the windswept crest of the hill, you’ll come to this view over Tregirls Farm to Trevose Head. When I reached this point - the wind was whipping in to the bay and despite the exposure, Swifts were swooping around me following the track up and down and checking out their newest guest admiring the view. The remnants of a tropical cyclone in the Caribbean had been in Cornwall for a few days and was just starting to clear, which had left the sea this wonderful churned up green colour whilst the zippy clouds were racing each other across the sky on their way to drop more rain. 

Why Tip Toes you ask - because you’ll find yourself on tip toes to soak in as much of this view as possible yourself over the hedgerow! I loved this hedgerow, with it’s crammed to bursting contents of leaves, branches and sun bleached grass casting a beautiful purple shadow on the lane. Given every nature lover adores a good hedgerow, I wanted to make it the central part of the picture, leading your eye over to Trevose Head and the cliffs. As I also often find myself doing whilst looking out to sea in Cornwall, I like to strip the view down to just nature without any building clutter, but Tregirls Farm adds a touch of the smuggler to this picture so it stayed in! Eagle eyed will spot the omissions but you’ll need to go and see for yourself for that

If you carry on down to the beach it is a very enjoyable walk back to Padstow and more gluttony….. The Padstow Coffee Company does an amazing brew to wash it all down too - just saying…..
