The wonderfully named Bones Lane is a small stretch of the Ridgeway that runs past the Bottle & Glass Inn through Binfield Heath.The path runs between two fields and a robust hedgerow of blackberry, shrubs and fallen leaves. 

The picture was painted in early autumn, when the sun sits low in the sky and the trees are competing to turn the most vibrant colour, the most quickly. A majestic oak tree was hiding behind the glorious yellowing maple tree in the foreground, it’s strength hanging on to both it’s colour and leaves whilst the maple lit up the sprawling sunlight that reached through both tree and hedgerow. As natural fireworks go, it’s a great sight with the multicoloured fallen debris scattered like gifts under the trees and across path and hedgerow. It is a big canvas with a thin white border to accentuate the glorious shadow that frames the spreading sunlight. Will sit beautifully on any wall and set off any colour schemes with the wide and rich palette.

The woods that sit further along the path are riotous at this time of year with numerous wonderful circular walks that lead back to the pub with it’s log fire, local ales and local produce from the estate upon which it all sits
